Jessica and Dewan are seriously awesome! I am so excited I was able to be a part of their gorgeous wedding. Their wedding day was mix of sweet moments and lots of laughter. Each and every detail of their day was carefully handcrafted and had special meaning to them. They chose to have an intimate ceremony with their closest family and friends at the Presidents’ Quarters Inn in Savannah.
Here are some of my favorite photos from their day.
Jessica’s stunning necklace, bracelet and earrings were handcrafted by her mother-in-law.
The lace on Jessica’s veil was from her grandmother’s wedding dress and the headpiece was worn by her mother. I love it when wedding items are passed from generation to generation.
The awesome comic pins were handcrafted by Jessica. Each wedding guest had a custom comic/character on their boutonniere. Jessica was super thoughtful and made a Mary Jane pin for me. I teared up when I opened it! She also made a pin for my husband since he made the trip to Savannah with me (his was Spiderman, it was so perfect)!
I asked Jessica and Dewan about their favorite moment from the wedding day and they both agreed it was the first look and gift exchange because it was the most private moment of the day and it was just the two of them being happy.
Their ceremony was performed by their close friend Brandy and included a ring warming service. It was so cool to watch the rings being passed around the room, you could feel the love that everyone has for Jessica and Dewan.
Even those that were not able to be at the wedding physically were able to watch the ceremony online.
The turtles on top of the cake are an inside joke between the couple and their friends. They also popped up on Jessica’s wedding day present from Dewan.
After the ceremony the rain stopped so we were able to walk around and take advantage of Savannah’s gorgeous scenery.
Jessica went to SCAD and many of the backdrops we chose had special meaning to her.
I asked Jessica and Dewan about their one piece of advice they would give to other couples for planning their wedding.
Jessica: “Learn to let go. Just because you aren’t having a storybook dream wedding or not using every person’s suggestions or spending your life savings doesn’t make your wedding any less perfect. Also, wear comfortable shoes”.
Dewan: “Don’t be afraid of letting other people help. Your family is a great help. And make sure your bride has good shoes to walk in”.
Jessica and Dewan thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day. I wish you guys a lifetime of love and happiness.
Mishaun, you managed to put this up right on Dewan’s birthday! You really must be magic!! Thank you so much for being so great. You are a treasure.
(Fun behind the scenes secret — if you look close, Dewan’s vows are titled “HOLY SHIT VOWS”!)
